WeJoySing Parents Meeting Saturday, February 12 Northwest Christian Church Upper Arlington 10:00-11:30 am

This month “Music Notes” completes its Child Care Center series by singing the praises of The Childhood League Center and its many efforts to help children with special needs.
When Katrina’s parents were told that she would never walk, they turned toThe Childhood League Centerlooking for hope. Soon, they discovered the truth of what they had sensed in their hearts all along: Katrina could do so many things! They became filled with stories of the small accomplishments: recognition of mama, a babble, a meaningful gaze. The day she “graduated” from the center, she powered her own chair across the stage, moving on to public school.
Katrina’s story is one of many victories families have experienced as a result of The Childhood League’s efforts. WeJoySing is privileged to partner with The Childhood League Center to provide high quality music and movement for children there. Continue reading June / July Music Notes

WeJoySing Receives a Royal Welcome at the Purple Door Child Care Center
by Mrs. Donna

Since Bible times, purple has been a symbol of royalty. Grove City United Methodist Church has long been known in the community as “the church with the purple doors.” It seems fitting, then that those who enter through its doors find a royal welcome!
Twice a month, “Mrs. Deb” Sutherland experiences that welcome, and the delight of the children and staff at The Purple Door Child Care Center. (One of their teachers is our own “Mrs. Karen” Vogt, the former WeJoySing Instructor who paved the way for this long-term partnership!) The PDCCC opened in 2003, and six months later, WeJoySing was introduced there.

Musical Mondays with WeJoySing at Children First
by Mrs. Donna

Say “WeJoySing,” and most of us think of the joy-filled time we share with our child at Heart Strings. But did you know that WeJoySing programs are available in other settings as well, such as child care centers, after school programs, and early childhood initiatives? Children in these settings also get to experience the JOY-filled times and developmental benefits music brings to the learning process.
Mrs. Nancy (Mapes) makes Mondays musical for little ones at the Children First Child Care Center. Thoroughly enjoying the children, she states, “ I LOVE to watch the children’s faces when I come to their room…they are sooo happy to come to music class…sometimes the littlest ones will put their arms up when they see me…” Then, she literally picks them up and takes them to music class.

Mrs. Nancy has taught classes at Children First for three years. She describes the staff and teachers as “wonderful…nurturing, hard working, and very supportive of the music program. We communicate often [as advocates for the children.]”
