Music, From Heart to Home Part 2
Mrs. Donna - North Canton

WeJoySing teachers love to share stories of the JOY and laughter your little ones bring to our lives. Here are some of our favorites.

You know you’re living and breathing WeJoySing when....
… you are the only one at the library story time who is “celebrating” after each activity!
...You walk around with La-La’s on your neck, shared by little ones passing their La La joy from their hands to your neck.
-Mrs. Kelly

Baby needs new shoes...so does Teacher!
We were having a great time "fixing" our shoes, singing: "Cobbler Cobbler Mend My Shoe...'cause my toe is peeking through....." when Adam noticed that I did have a place in my shoe where the stitching was coming apart. His concern burst forth: "Mrs. Lynnette, we need to help you fix YOUR shoe. You've got another hole!" He proceeded to show me the actual “hole” in my shoe. Before I knew it, all the children were inspecting and “fixing” my shoe! Adam watched and finally said, "Mrs. Lynnette, this is NOT working! I think you're going to have to get new shoes!"

Come my Little Farm....OR was that BIG?
"NO, NO, NO!!!", Geoffrey shouted as we sang: “Come to my Little Farm... The little horse goes like this..." I had to stop the song immediately because this was not Geoffrey’s usual behavior. He explained, "That's not a LITTLE horse, it's a BIG horse!"
Aha! I continued, "The BIG horse goes like this...." The next animal was the cow. Now I've got the hang of it, I thought (smugly). I sang, "The BIG cow sounds like this...."
Once again from Geoffrey: "NO, NO, NO!!"
"What is it, Geoffrey?"
"That's not a BIG cow, it's a LITTLE cow!!!"
Okay - "The LITTLE cow sounds like this!!" I finally got wise and asked Geoffrey before I started to sing: "Is this a BIG frog or a LITTLE frog?" Too cute!
-Mrs. Nancy

Speaking of Following a Child’s Lead....
Lydia had the urge to balance her drum atop her head with one hand, stretching uuuup with the other hand, barely reaching with the mallet to play the drum. Mommy was trying to get her to put the drum on the floor, but the teacher had already placed a drum atop her own head and was keeping the beat to "Here I come with my little tom-tom...." Soon all the children had their drums on their heads and were playing and singing along, accompanied by much laughter.

NOMORE!
Two-year-old Aaron walked into the WeJoySing classroom proudly carrying a stuffed monkey. He was chattering away: "Nomore...Nomore..." Raising my eyebrows, I looked to Mommy to interpret.
She laughed: "He’s telling you ‘No More.’ That’s his monkey’s name. It’s short for ‘No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!’"
-Mrs. Donna

Research Confirms what Parents already Knew.....
As the babies faced their "partners" for “1-2-3, Baby’s on My Knee,” I explained that, in the past, researchers believe that there was little social connection among babies of this age, but now we know that infants do in fact enjoy socialization. We all looked around, and as if to confirm the fact, all the babies were smiling at each other and laughing and reaching out to touch their "partners!” The parents all laughed, as if to say, "well of course!"
