Expanding “WeJoySing Territory”
A Vision of JOY-filled Excellence Part 1
“Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me…”
1 Chronicles 4:10
The house was quiet, the family asleep. In the stillness, a young mother envisioned the road stretching out before her: the adventure of having her own business was about to begin! Sitting in bed, she contemplated numerous possibilities for a business name. None captured the essence of her passion.
Reading through the Psalms for comfort as much as for inspiration, she came upon one word that echoed in the chambers of her mind: rejoicing.
“That’s it! There it is!” she said aloud. “Joi is JOY. Cing is SING…but what do I do with the ‘Re?’” she wondered, asking for leadership from above.
And then it jumped out at her, as if from the pages of the Book Itself. The name of the company would be WeJoySing: WE, as parents and children, come together in a JOY-filled setting and learn many things through SINGing. What a GREAT word, rejoicing!!
The year was 1985, and the entrepreneur was on a mission, but this mission was never about money. It was her passion, her purpose. Sharing what she knew would change the lives of families in her area, but across the nation?
Jo Kirk, founder and President of WeJoySing, Inc., admits that on that night over twenty years ago, she could not have known just how far that road would lead. She gives credit to the One whose Hand has been with her all the way, guiding WeJoySing’s exciting growth. “WeJoySing isn’t about total numbers in the program, but about the parents we serve, the children we nurture, and the JOY and delight shared when we learn, live, and sing together. I am blessed to overflowing when I think that more families across the USA will soon be discovering the JOY in WeJoySing as we begin to ‘enlarge our territory’ beyond Columbus and Ohio.”
WeJoySing’s “territory” has expanded over the years to include classes not only in the Columbus area but also in:
Canton/Massillon, Ohio
Granville, Ohio
Marysville, Ohio
Lincoln, Nebraska
Denver, Colorado
And new this fall….Norwalk, Connecticut!
In the coming months, Music Notes will feature the series: Expanding “WeJoySing Territory”… A Vision of JOY-filled Excellence. You’ll meet the teachers who have established WeJoySing programs in new areas and discover ways in which WeJoySing is bringing the very best in music-and-movement-based learning to little ones across the nation.
